Honda has unveiled its new fifth-generation Honda CR-V 2018 for the Indian market. The new CR-V also gets its Diesel engine variant for the first time which includes an optional 7-seater layout as well. The pricing of the new Honda CR-V 2018 variant starts at Rs 28.15 lakhs and it will be available in radiant red metallic, lunar silver metallic, modern steel metallic, white orchid pearl and golden brown metallic color variants.
Talking about the design, the new CR-V comes with a lot of visual changes over its predecessor. On the front, Honda has redesigned the grille which gets sharper lines that merge with new LED headlamps and LED DRLs with fog lamps and tail-lamps. With the 2018 variant, the company is offering side view mirrors with cameras and LEDs. The car also comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof as seen on other premium SUVs. There are roof rails and a tailgate spoiler as well.
The interior gets an all-new leather upholstery including premium leather seating and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The center of the dashboard boasts a seven-inch touchscreen display infotainment system which comprises for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto platforms. With a total of 8 speakers including 4 tweeters, the all-new CR-V offers best-in-class audio. Also, the infotainment supports voice recognition as well. For the connectivity, it features Bluetooth, two USB ports and an HDMI port.
Under the hood
The petrol variant of the new CR-V comes equipped with a 2 litre, 4-cylinder, I-VTEC unit that promises to churn out 154 BHP at 6500rpm, similar to its earlier model. On the other hand, the new diesel CR-V variant comes with a new 4-cylinder i-DTEC 1.6-litre unit that churns out 118 BHP at 4000rpm. In order to increase efficiency and to reduce NVH levels, the new CR-V has been designed to be lighter and less frictional.
With the latest innovations, the cars are just getting safer and safer. The new SUV features the best-in-class safety measures that include six-airbags and ABS. The company is also offering additional features like vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and also a driver attention monitoring feature. As per the ASEAN NCAP crash test rating, the new 2018 Honda CR-V has scored a full five-star rating.
