GoPro has been one of the pioneers in the action camera business for a long time now. We have been using the GoPro action cameras since forever and even till date, although there are a lot of alternatives available, none of them come early as close to GoPro. So when you talk about a new drone from the company, things become quite exciting. And finally, a year and a half after thinking about the thing, we have the drone here. The big thing about Karma is that it is easy to use and that’s the main idea here. It means there are a couple of different things. The first thing is that it is small and unlike a very few of them in the market, it folds up. GoPro is actually selling it with a backpack in which it will actually fit. And another part of that easy to use is the controller. It is much simpler than what you would see with some of the other professional drones in the market. It is a clamshell controller that pops open. There are two joysticks and a couple of buttons for controlling karma. There is a button for starting and stopping the motors. There is also a button to bring Karma back to you. And above all, it also has a big LCD touchscreen. Which means you don’t have to use your phone to control the Karma at all. It will let you switch through the different modes and what not.

If you are a first-time pilot as well, this thing will be a breeze to work with. You will have no issues whatsoever with using it. There is a GPS unit in the drone itself and in the controller that will keep it steady. But the battery life is something that you should be considering. It is supposed to give you a flight time of around 20 minutes, and you have to make sure that you get it down within that time frame or else you might end up with just a controller with nothing to control it. It is easier than some of the other drones out there in the market, but that doesn’t mean that you will be able to pick it up from the right and start flying right away. It will surely take some time to get used to the ergonomics, etc. And the last cool thing about the camera that we should be discussing is the fact that you don’t have to keep flying it. You can simply take the Hero 5 with the three axis gimble from the drone and put it on to the handheld mount that comes with the drone itself. This will turn your GoPro into a small steady cam rig which you can carry around. It’s a lot like the DJI Osmo but it is all in one package. The video quality is again very good here. It records on 4k 30 FPS, and when you compare it with the Phantom 4 or Mavic Pro, the image quality is slightly washed out. Now some of you might say that it has more of a RAW look to it, but i would any day take the footage from the Phantom 4 or the Mavic Pro. With that said, you if you want the latest and the greatest from GoPro, this is the way to go.
