Acer is one of the brands apart from Asus which has declined the production of Windows 7 netbooks recently due to diminished sales, but the company has gained up the momentum again after the Windows 8 OS from Microsoft was launched in the 2nd half of 2012. Now, the company is coming up with three new laptops with the Windows 8 operating system, and one of them is the hybrid variant. These laptops have actually been announced in the end of the previous year, but they would be displaying them to highlight the best products in the lineup.
Acer Aspire S7
This is one of the sharp looking new laptops from Acer with the Windows 8 OS, which is thin and light, and it comes with the Intel Core i7 processor. While the design and the Windows 8 Interface are very attractive and top-notch, the pricing of the touchscreen Aspire S7 laptop is quite high at $1,649 and this will have to be facing a lot of competition as there are some excellent laptops from various other manufacturers which do not cross the 3-digit pricing for some similar specs in them.
Acer Iconia W700
The Iconia W700 from Acer is a beautiful combination of the slate with the keyboard which can be docked together, or the slate can be separately used as a tablet device with the heavy Intel Core i5 processor. When docked, this becomes an all-in-one computer with the Windows 8 operating system, and the keyboard looks just like the external keyboard that is available from Apple for the iPad. The touchscreen itself is pretty good in providing all functions that a mouse would do on the PC.
Acer Iconia W510
This is another hybrid tablet with the Intel Atom processor, and the screen can be well separated from the keyboard, or can be docked to work as a normal laptop.
These are the three which Acer has earlier talked about, showcased at a few Windows 8 launch days but they would highlight these as the best ones with full functional Windows 8 operating systems. The CES 2013 is going to see a lot of Laptop manufacturers launching new laptops and PCs with the latest Windows OS, and the specs that weren’t there in the earlier versions.
Apart from these, Acer would be coming up with the Iconic series tablet devices with the Android OS, but the steal of the show could be these hybrid devices with the Windows OS. We’d report from the CES 2013.
